Today I wanted to share about the photo shoot I did last weekend. There are two main reasons I decided to do this photo shoot. One, near the beginning of my schooling I decided that I wanted to put together my own photo shoot. I had planned out some hairstyles, that eventually became the styles that you will see below. The second, was a program called Beacon. This is a program through the Professional Beauty Association to give student stylists the opportunity to gain education from top stylists in the industry and make connections at the national beauty week in the summer. There are several projects you need to submit to be eligible to win, so I decided this would be a good time to do the shoot.
Now a little bit more about the shoot itself. My models are some of the girls who I am closest to and who influence my life. This includes two of my sisters and my cousin. I did three hairstyles, one on each model. The theme I had for this shoot was rope twists; hence, the Twisted Sisters title. This was my first time putting on my own photo shoot and it was a blast! I put together all of the photo shoot including hair, makeup and fashion, while handling other organizational necessities. No one is perfect and this shoot had its hard times, but this helped remind me that it's how we handle situations that arise, not the situations themselves that define us. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to work with my wonderful and patient family, and to learn a little more of what it is like to be an editorial stylist. Enjoy the photos!
